Reviewing merit badge materials at Tuesday scout meeting.

Bring: blue card

July 23, 2024 Hi Troop!

Thank you to the scouts that made it out and took part in our meeting at the park.  If you need Tenderfoot requirement 6a don’t forget to have that signed off with the numbers we recorded.

Next week we will meet at the church at 5:45pm to continue with the academic portion of the merit badge.

This weeks homework is to record your meals for 3 days with the log provided in the packets we handed out.

Additionally, you’ll need to come up with some sort of 12 week fitness program for yourself to follow (there is a page of examples also in the packet we handed out). Please bring it with you next week so we can approve it.

If you have already completed Part C of your med forms, we will count this toward the physical needed for the merit badge.

One of the other requirements is for your parent to confirm with us that you have had a dental visit and cleaning recently.

If you need any help with your fitness program, please feel free to email myself, Mr. Brinkert or Mr. Gardner.

If you were unable to attend but would like to start the merit badge, please let us know so we can get you caught up.

Also, don’t forget to get your blue cards for the class next meeting.

See you next week!

Hi Troop!

I hope that everyone that attended Camp Baldwin had a fantastic time and has had a chance to recuperate some over the weekend. Those of us that didn’t get to go missed you all!

Tomorrow’s meeting is going to look a little different than our typical meetings. Many of our scouts need personal fitness rank requirements for Tenderfoot rank. Additionally, we will be starting the Personal Fitness Merit Badge which is an Eagle required badge. Both the rank requirement and merit badge require several fitness tests to be conducted and logged with future tests showing some sort of improvement.

Because these things can’t effectively be done at the church we will be meeting at our regular time of 6:30-8pm at Pfiefer Park.

Please have your scout wear clothing appropriate to exercise in, bring a water bottle, wear sunscreen and wear appropriate shoes. Feel free to bring a chair for yourself if you are staying and for your scout.  Make sure your scout brings his scout book as we will also be doing sign offs.

We will be administering the following fitness tests:

Number of sit ups in 60 seconds

Number of push ups in 60 seconds

Number of pull ups in 60 seconds

Sit and reach measurements

How far the scout can run/walk in 9 min

Pfiefer Park is located at 14074 Se 139th Ave, Clackamas 97015

Should your scout have any reason they are unable to participate in any of these tests, please reach out so that we may come up with alternatives to make sure your scout can still receive credit towards these requirements.

Thank you and I hope to see you all tomorrow!
